File, Data + Document Conversion, Shipment Tracking and Fun

The first 33 Power Automate connectors to be delivered in July bring the Grand Total to 785!

I’m reviewing them grouped according to what they can do for you. In the last blog, I covered new E-Sign, and SMS, voice and chat connectors. In this set of reviews, I’ll be taking a quick look at those that cover document and data conversion, file conversion, and shipment tracking. Plus, there’s one designed to add humor to your flows automatically. So, Let’s dive in!

Document Conversion

Their description sounds impressive. “This connector provides you with the ability to generate a PDF from a Word document while maintaining the fidelity of the images, charts or graphs included in the source document.”

Digging into this one, I was unimpressed by the account sign up URL found in the Microsoft documentation. There’s no explanation here at all yet they require your personal information including credit card, with no indication of cost associated or even what you’re signing up for exactly. Feel your Spidey senses tingling? Had the URL not been in the Microsoft documents, I would have quickly closed the page.

A few steps further in the MS Documents, I found the contact URL. That landed me at Spot Solutions, a Microsoft Gold Partner site. Now we’re getting somewhere. Lots on the site, but nothing easily located about the connector per se. Reverting back to the Microsoft documents, I learned that this connector has one action: to convert your library Word document file to PDF format file. Maybe it does everything they say.

For your file conversion needs, the CloudConvert platform allows the possibility convert over 200 different “audio, video, document, ebook, archive, image, spreadsheet and presentation formats.” The connector’s three actions allow you to convert files, compress files and create website screenshots using the CloudConvert service. I’d give it an extra half star if its creators come back with additional useful functions in future iterations. Still, the automation possibilities here are limited only by your imagination.

Depending upon your needs there are lots of document conversion connectors to suit your specific needs. From this latest drop, CloudConvert appears to stand out in terms of its flexibility.

DHL Tracking

Automate your shipment tracking via DHL, a global logistics company using this independently published connector. Its sole action gets shipment tracking so you can stay on top what comes and goes.

Delivered by another independent publisher, there’s a new connector for the Easyship service. This platform can help you to add free worldwide shipping options to your website, plus the “end-to-end shipping functionality” to your warehouse, enterprise resource planning (ERP), or platform. The well thought out connector’s actions cover the gamut of what you’ll need to understand as you ship your products.

  • Get a list of shipping quotes for a prospective shipment.
  • Get available pickup slots from a specific courier in local time and for the coming 7 days.
  • Request a pickup (directly to the courier with a reference number.)
  • Get a list of all available courier boxes.
  • Buy and retrieve information about a shipping label.
  • Create and retrieve info about a shipment.
  • Update a shipment details.
  • Update a shipment’s warehouse state. (This function only available for shipments fulfilled at one of the Easyship integrated warehouses.)
  • Delete and receive confirmation of a shipment deletion.
  • Get details of shipment checkpoints.
  • Get a list of shipment categories and the slug to use the category.
  • Get the tracking status of a shipment.
  • Get the details of a shipment.
  • Get a list of all shipments.

I can see a future need for an added trigger of a flow that would inform you once a shipment leaves so that you can tie its departure to a friendly “Hey, your shipment is on it’s way via this selected courier.”

Need to add a little levity to your flow? That’s reason to check out DADJokesIO (not to be confused with icanhazdadjokes or ChuckNorrisIO) but similarly spirited. DADJokesIO from an indy publisher has four actions:

  • Search for jokes contacting the search term
  • Get a Dad joke by ID.
  • Get a random Dad joke.
  • Get a joke(s) by a specific type.

As 80’s era comedian Barry Sobel once said, “C-O-M-E-D-Y…Funny!”
