WP Connectr Pro v3.1.0: True Dataverse Sync and more!

WP Connectr Pro v3.1.0: True Dataverse Sync and more!

We are incredibly proud to announce WP Connectr Pro version 3.1.0, our biggest release since launch! This is two major versions’ worth of work rolled into one public update, and it changes what the plugin fundamentally is. WP Connectr Pro is no longer just a way to get your Dataverse schema and data into WordPress. It’s now a complete platform for running Dataverse-backed WordPress sites: continuous record sync, readable relational data, native WordPress filtering, and a professional dev โ†’ staging โ†’ production deployment workflow.

If you’re new to our plugin, WP Connectr Pro brings Microsoft-level data management to WordPress. Import a solution file from Dynamics 365 or the Power Platform and the plugin automatically recreates your Dataverse tables as WordPress custom post types, complete with ACF fields mapped to every column. Your team gets a familiar, fully-owned WordPress front end while Dataverse remains your structured source of truth.

Here’s everything that’s new.

๐Ÿ”„ Sync Records from Dataverse to WordPress – Pre-configured & Automatic

This is the feature our users have been asking for since day one. Previous versions generated a solution that performed a one-time export of your Dataverse records. Version 3.1.0 generates a fully pre-configured Power Platform solution that keeps WordPress continuously in sync with Dataverse.

For each post type you select, the generated solution now includes three cloud flows:

  • A Dataverse triggered flow that creates or updates the WordPress record whenever a matching Dataverse record is added or modified
  • A Dataverse triggered flow that deletes the WordPress record when the Dataverse record is deleted
  • A bonus instant cloud flow that bulk-loads all of your existing records to get you started

Flows match existing WordPress records on the Dataverse table’s primary key, so updates and deletes stay accurate over time – no duplicates, no orphaned posts, no manual reconciliation. And because solution and flow names now use the human-readable table name (think “Sync Partners to example.com” instead of a raw logical name), your Power Platform environment stays readable too.

Set it up once, and your WordPress site becomes a live, always-current window into your Dataverse – running on infrastructure you own.

๐Ÿ“ฆ New: Environment Migration: Promote Dev to Production Without Fear

This one is for everyone who follows development best practices: develop on a dev site, test on staging, then deploy to production. Until now, moving a WP Connectr Pro configuration between environments meant rebuilding it by hand – or worse, reaching for a whole-site migration plugin and overwriting your production content in the process.

The new Migration page ends that. It exports your entire WP Connectr Pro configuration (post types, field groups, taxonomies, all of the Dataverse mapping metadata that makes the integration work, and even your Gravity Forms form definitions) into a single portable bundle JSON file. Import it on any other environment and everything arrives connected and ready to sync.

The design principle behind it is simple but powerful: migrate definitions, never content. Your production posts, field values, terms, and form entries are never touched. That guarantee is built into how the import works:

  • A dry-run preview before anything is written. The import shows you a full diff – what’s new, what’s updated, what’s unchanged – and a banner confirming X posts, Y field values, Z terms will be modified. You see exactly what will happen before you confirm.
  • Safe, repeatable updates. Everything is matched by stable keys, so re-importing an updated bundle merges your changes in place. Pushing “2 field groups updated, 1 field added” to production is a two-minute task, not an afternoon of manual clicking.
  • Nothing is ever deleted automatically. If something exists on the destination but not in the bundle, the diff tells you and leaves the decision to you.
  • Export what you want. Grab everything with one click, or select specific post types and field groups for a targeted bundle.

The Migration page walks you through the entire journey visually – export from source, import to destination, then re-import your Power Automate solution against the new environment – so you can see the whole process before you start. And for teams with automated deploy pipelines, it’s all scriptable: wp wpconnectr migration export and wp wpconnectr migration import --dry-run slot right into your CI/CD workflow. The bundle is plain JSON, so you can even commit it to version control and diff configuration changes between releases.

This is the deployment workflow enterprise teams expect, and no other WordPress-Dataverse integration has anything like it.

๐Ÿท๏ธ New: Field โ†’ Taxonomy Sync

Any ACF choice field (select, radio, checkbox, or button group) can now mirror its value into a real WordPress taxonomy term on the same post, using a new per-field “Sync to Taxonomy” setting.

Why does this matter? Because taxonomies are how WordPress filters. Once a field is synced, your admin list tables automatically gain native views links (All | Active | Resolved | โ€ฆ) with counts and one-click filtering, and your theme can use standard taxonomy archives and queries on the front end. Your Dataverse choice columns stop being invisible metadata and start working like first-class WordPress data.

We sweat the details on this one:

  • Terms stay in sync across every write path: admin edits, REST and Power Automate updates, CSV imports, and programmatic update_field() calls
  • Syncs are idempotent and safe to run repeatedly – empty values never wipe out existing terms, and the falsy Dataverse “0” (like statecode “Active”) is handled correctly
  • Solution import can auto-create taxonomies for optionset columns. The statecode field on an incident table becomes a “Case Status” taxonomy automatically; other optionset columns are opt-in per column. The statecode field is recognized as a special column and has this feature automatically selected in the importer.
  • Already have records? A “Sync existing records now” button right beside the field setting backfills taxonomies for existing records. It’s batched and resumable – if it times out on a huge dataset, just run it again and it picks up where it left off
  • Prefer the command line? wp wpconnectr sync-taxonomies <post-type> [--dry-run] [--verbose] has you covered

๐Ÿ”— Readable Lookup Fields

If you’ve worked with Dataverse lookup columns in WordPress before, you know the pain: a wall of GUIDs. Not anymore. Lookup fields now resolve their stored GUIDs to the related WordPress record everywhere they appear.

  • Admin list views show the related record’s title instead of a raw GUID
  • The lookup field editor is now a full search picker โ€” type to search related records by title and select the match, instead of pasting a GUID
  • ACF render support: set a lookup field’s Return Format to GUID, Post Object, or Display Name, and get_field() returns the related WP_Post or its title directly. The stored value always remains the GUID, so your sync flows keep working
  • New helper functions for themes and plugins: wp_connectr_get_lookup_field(), wp_connectr_get_lookup_post(), and wp_connectr_get_lookup_title()

๐Ÿ‘€ Preview and Edit Solutions Before You Download

The solution generator now includes a preview step that mirrors the Power Platform solution editor, showing a Details panel and an Objects table listing every cloud flow and connection reference your solution will contain. You can review exactly what you’re getting before anything is downloaded.

Even better: you can edit the solution’s display name, unique name, version, and description right in the preview. Need to push an update to a solution already deployed in production? Bump the version number and re-import โ€” that’s it.

โš™๏ธ Quality-of-Life Improvements

  • More reliable re-imports: re-importing an updated solution now correctly adds newly added and changed columns to the existing post type instead of skipping them
  • Streamlined navigation: the intermediate “Get Data” page is gone, Import Data now has its own menu item, and the Solutions overview links directly to Import New Solution, Import CSV Data, and Sync with Dataverse
  • Cleaner interface: reworked wording throughout to reflect syncing rather than one-time exporting, plus a general admin UI cleanup
  • Battle-tested: this release ships with a greatly expanded automated test suite that exercises real WordPress data โ€” real posts, real fields, real imports โ€” not mocks. When we say your content is safe, we’ve proven it!

What This Looks Like in Practice

Say you manage support cases in Dynamics 365 and want a customer-facing case portal on WordPress:

  1. Import your solution on staging. The incident table becomes a Cases post type, every column becomes an ACF field, and the statecode column automatically becomes a “Case Status” taxonomy.
  2. Run the bulk export flow once. All existing cases land in WordPress, with lookup fields showing real customer names instead of GUIDs, and admins filtering by status with one click.
  3. Go live with a Migration Bundle. Once everything looks right on staging, export the bundle, import it on production, review the diff, and confirm. Your entire configuration arrives intact โ€” without touching a single production post.
  4. Generate the sync solution. Preview it, name it “Sync Cases to yoursite.com”, and import it into Power Platform.
  5. You’re done. From now on, every case created, updated, or deleted in Dataverse is reflected in WordPress automatically. Need to add a field next month? Update on staging, re-export, re-import. Two minutes.
