First Connectors from Independent Publishers Land

First Connectors from Independent Publishers Land

Microsoft recently announced in its product updates, the new Independent Publisher connector program which has released seven new connectors that add to the already generous offering in Power Automate.

The key difference between Independent Publisher connectors and any of the other 512 available Power Automate connectors is that they are “developed, tested, published and supported by connector developers that are independent from the end service or API,” according to info given by Microsoft. You can learn more about that here. The two person red icon image denotes those connectors which are published independently.

At the same time as this release, two new Power Automate connectors, Document Al Konfuzio and Lawlift were added, bringing us a grand total of 519! We’ll break them down to give you an idea of what they’re all about.

Airtable connector icon
Airtable (Independent Publisher)

The popular cloud-based Airtable platform offers similar concepts to that of Microsoft’s Dataverse and Power Apps. As a spreadsheet format for data management, the connector’s five actions let you create, retrieve, update or delete a record, or get a list of records in a table. We rated this only 2 stars because while it does offer some connection to Airtable, you’re very limited in what you can do and this connector does not provide very useful access to your Airtable data.

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Two stars, because it doesn’t quite give you enough to do what you’ll likely want in Airtable.

CQC Data connector icon
CQC Data (Independent Publisher)

The CQC data connector provides reports and ratings for health and social services that are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England. The commission “ensures the quality and safety of care in hospitals, dentists, ambulances, and care homes, and the care given in people’s own homes.”

It’s action-packed so users can:

  • Get the global taxonomy (classification) of all CQC inspection areas including their current status for new inspections
  • Get a list of organizations of a specified type that have changed in a given time frame
  • Get a list of locations/sites where a provider operates
  • Get the list of locations for this provider (single or multiple locations)
  • Get the list of provider inspection areas which have been inspected
  • Get the list of provider codes for providers, organizations for health, social care services regulated by the CQC
  • Get a list of inspection areas related to the specified location area
  • Retrieve a PDF file or text content of the specified report
  • Retrieve a PDF file or text content of the specified report and it’s related document
  • Retrieve a location details e.g. address, related codes, inspection area, local authority, etc.
  • Retrieve an individual provider’s details

We see the possibility of some great use cases for the CQC Data connector either as a lead generation tool, or for any situation where a company needs to work with health and social care service providers in England.

Document Al Konfuzio connector icon
Document AI Konfuzio

Document AI Konfuzio, a connector from the German-based company uses its AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR) software platform information to extract text from PDF documents including: images, handwriting, and scans. It’s four actions include the ability to:

  • Upload a document
  • Retrieve extraction results for a document
  • Delete a document
  • Give feedback to the extraction results of a document

If you plan to use this connector, be aware there’s a brief training session required for the AI to work.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Three stars, an average rating because this doesn’t bring anything new to the PDF table (aside from potentially more useful OCR)

Jira Search connector icon
Jira Search (Independent Publisher)

Jira, the Atlassian work management tool, now offers the Jira Search Power Automate connector which purports to provide access to “the v2 Jira issue search API which is not exposed using the built-in Jira connector.” We like the focus of its single action which searches for issues using Jira Query Language (JQL) through the digital board.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Four stars because it is tightly focused on search and does one thing very well.

Lawlift connector icon
Lawlift

Lawlift connector for legal document automation dropped a connector useful for when legal forms are created or exported from the Lawlift service. The connector contains two flow triggers: one when a user exports the file, and another when a user submits a questionnaire. Legal department staff, law firms, or notaries have the most to benefit from this automation.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Three stars, we wanted to rate this one higher, but the connector offers only a small slice of the API.

UK Bank Holidays connector icon
UK Bank Holidays (Independent Publisher)

UK Bank Holidays connector has a single action that provides a fully up-to-date list of all UK Bank holidays designated by the UK government.

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Two stars because it is literally only reading a single url. (If that url changes, this could be updated without needing to update your flow?)

These next three HubSpot connectors by Hitachi Solutions each address important areas for any business; content management, customer relationship management, and of course, marketing. None have triggers.

HUBSPOT CMS connector icon
HubSpot CMS (Independent Publisher)

For business website content management and publication on sites that have been built on Hubspot CMS, this connector is designed to be used by non-technical content creators. Its actions allow for:

  • Creating, updating, or deleting a page
  • Creating or updating a template
  • Creating a new coded template object in Design Manager
  • Publishing or unpublishing a page
  • Listing all pages
  • Listing all templates

Rating: 4 out of 5.

HUBSPOT CRM connector icon
HubSpot CRM (Independent Publisher)

HubSpot CRM users will be happy to see this one land in Power Automate. For customer relationship management, this connector has many possible actions.

  • Create, get, update, list, or delete a company
  • Create, get, update, list, or delete a contact
  • Create, get, update, list, or delete a deal
  • Create, get, update, list, or delete a line item
  • Create, get, update, list, or delete a product
  • Create, get, update, list, or delete a ticket

This connector ranks lower than you would expect due to the lack of triggers that we believe would make a marked improvement for its use. Still, a bright spot is that its documentation provides instructions for building custom triggers from Hubspot. We look forward to future maturation with this connector.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Three stars

HUBSPOT Marketing connector icon
HubSpot Marketing (Independent Publisher)

This connector is used to retrieve and make changes to HubSpot Marketing. In case you’re wondering, HubSpot Marketing “helps users attract the right audience, convert more visitors into customers, and run complete inbound marketing campaigns at scale,” which is to say it assists in marketing via web forms and email campaigns. It’s a very popular marketing platform and many companies will be able to incorporate HubSpot marketing into their automation with this one.

It’s actions include:

  • Create a new form or update one
  • Archive a form definition
  • Create, update, or delete a marketing email
  • Create, update, or delete a marketing event
  • Get a form, marketing event, all marketing emails, marketing email details or campaign data

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Four stars
